CSX2232 – History from Mid 60s to Mid 80s

The SAAC has no record of this car after the mid 60s and the ACOC's only record is of a UK-constructed RHD Replica completed as car in the mid 80s (firstly registered AFM 42A, then RSW 11).

It is now claimed that CSX2232 went to Colombia where it was raced in the 'Carrera Colombia' and then came 'to the UK in a very bad way in the 70s'. If anyone can provide authoritative evidence to support (a) 2232's existence in Colombia in the late 60s or early 70s and (b) 2232's 70s import to the UK' the ACOC's Thames Ditton Cobra Registrar would be grateful.

The car is now registered 27 PE with UK's Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, with 'date of first registration' shown as March 1990 and 'vehicle make' as AC Cobra.

I would think the buyer (and seller) of the car would have wanted photos and more history than that when each acquired it. Can either provide any documents to support their claims as to the car's having been in Columbia?

Buyers only seek history if they want it.

Inquiries so far have drawn a blank. Further I've yet to find record of any 60s or early 70s Carreras Colombia motor race event. Any help from the Americas (the last being from Guatemala) would be much appreciated.

Robin, this car may not be related at all to your inquiry, but I thought I'd post it, this is from my files, noted as "partida de las seis horas, peruanas (Peru) ? 1966. We see a Cobra #3,  two,  what could be GT350s, #s 6 & 7, and what looks to be another Mustang, two spots behind #7.

I don't know how they qualified for this event ? but it looks as if an Austin Healey, and a Lotus Super 7 were faster then the Cobra.

Hmmm,the picture is kind of blurry, but #3 looks more like a street 427 to me. Note the gas cap location, rear fenders, and grille opening. CSX 2232 would have been a 289, the Cobra in the photo must have been another car if I am seeing it clearly.

Agreed. That's a 427 in the photo. Possibly CSX 3029, which was originally shipped to a Peruvian buyer who raced it.

Buyers only seek history if they want it.

Greed also seems to play a factor. They "discover" a car for cheap and rather than asking questions fearing their find will be stolen they buy it on the qt then try to prove the story they were told.
