Thanks for the explaining about this "Dealer Plate" Thing...

i learn a lot, and i love to learn and go deeper and deeper in the rabbit hole of Shelby Knowledge.

A Question from me ...

i saw a early Pic GT350 with 1Z 013 on the Plate and the ABC has 26 Letters, so it is possible to say
this was the 26.th Street car or one of the first 26 street Cars built ?

for me, as a little Timeline Nerd, it would be a very good chance to date a pic right or possible right.

Thanks a lot

Stephan

The plates that SA used were MFG plates not Dealer plates. The MFG plates do not have any thing to do with the Shelby vin of the car. A MFG got assigned a certain amount of plates to use on their cars . 4,5 ,10 etc. The same plate may be swapped around for use on different cars while they were driven on public roads.

Historical fyi:

The man sitting in the GT350 was Eric Rickman, who was a Petersen Publishing company editor. He started in 1950 and retired in 1990/1(?). He wrote for all the automotive and motorcycle titles. A large segment of early Petersen photo files were shot by Eric, aka ERickMan. He did it all, from tech to event coverage.
