eng. paint underneath

Hi ---there is about 4 inch of engine underneath in area between transmission and each side of oil pane---my question was that part painted?

The engine was assembled when it was painted. That area (now bare on your engine) was not masked off so it would have been exposed to direct paint application

Short answer painted as would the engine plate that is right behind it though an area around where the starter would be attached - not all of the surface though as the paint fades to no paint at that spot to assure good grounding of the starter to the engine

+1, oil pan bolts would be painted also, or at least have engine paint over-spray.

If the oil pan is well painted then the bolts and washers holding them on would be also. If they were painted quickly and there is a shadow then there should be a shadow on the back side of the bolt heads - that section of washer and on the oil pan

Thank you---IMO most correct course of action for me is to mask off engine block , repaint oil pan with bolts and plug together and generous overspray on bare area--thanks again
