Is there much difference in original valve covers than the after market ones & what would be a fair price for a set of originals?

I could be wrong, but I was thinking all 65's and most of the 66's had the open letters. Please let me know if I am wrong on this.
I am very thankful for the forum and all the knowledge of the members.

On forum 1 I asked when the closed letters began showing up for the 66s and I believe the answer was around 1300 or so.

As far as differences there are quite a few nuances differences and several that are highly visible . I believe there was a tutorial somewhere but maybe it was before the crash. I will let someone else do all of the typing if they want to re create it.

1350 had open letters when I owned it in the 70s

Here are two images, open letter sand cast - typically not painted (I think) and solid letter typically wrinkle-black.

many other nuances...

use the search window upper-right of the Home Page and type "valve cover" it will bring up pages of links to threads

Bob Gaines

There are substantially more differences and variations between a repro or Ford service replacement CLOSED LETTER  valve cover and assemblyline then what can be said between the open letter valve cover repro alternatives and assemblyline.
