Am I missing something? Replacement block, bad tires and suspension? Very strong money considering the world these days.  I know, before you say it, it only takes two bidders that really want it to drive up the price, but I'm still surprised.  Then again, they are pretty rare, they only made, what a million of them?   . (exaggerating, of course)

1965 Ford Mustang Convertible 289 3-Speed

This 1965 Ford Mustang convertible was assembled in San Jose, California, and was acquired by the current owner in 1990. The car is finished in orange over a white vinyl interior and is powered by a 289ci V8 paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Features include a white convertible top, chrome bumpers and trim, and four-wheel drum brakes. Service in October 2018 included a brake fluid flush, a fuel system flush, a brake adjustment, and replacing the battery. This Mustang is now offered on behalf of the seller's sister with service records, two keys, and a clean California title.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission, and additional underside photos can be viewed in the gallery.

The car was painted its current shade of orange in June 2000 and features a replacement white soft top. The front valance, the windshield cowl, the left quarter-panel extension, and the windshield gasket were replaced prior to the repaint. Rust was also repaired on the rear panel. The seller notes evidence of a collision in the engine bay, and repairs to the floors, firewall, and right quarter panel were performed in 2001. Paint chips are visible on the cowl, and over 150 photos of the paint and brightwork can be viewed in the gallery.

14″ steel wheels feature full Mustang-branded covers and wear Goodyear Regatta whitewall tires. A brake fluid flush was performed in October 2018. The seller states that the tires are in need of replacement and that the suspension is in need of service.

The interior features seats upholstered cream vinyl, along with matching door panels, a vinyl top boot, and replacement black carpeting. The seller notes that neither the horn nor the radio is functional and that the driver-side door body identification plate has been removed.

Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and temperature. An aftermarket voltmeter is mounted to the underside of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 65k miles, approximately 5k of which were added by the current owner since 1990. True mileage is unknown.

The 289ci V8 was reportedly rebuilt and fitted with a replacement block during previous ownership and features a two-barrel carburetor. Service in October 2018 included an oil change and flushing the fuel tank, fuel system, and carburetor. The seller notes that the engine stumbles at low RPMs.
