1965/01/27 - Introduction Event of the GT350 (New 25.10.20: German Car Magazin)

Here are some other photos taken at Riverside on that day.

Thanks for the Pics, truly from the Event

I found some more ...

the first struggle me for a long time in my research time...

I found it on the Web, and it was named that it was on the Introduction Event,
but for some unkown Reason i won´t believe that.

On the web everybody can write anything.



but for 2 Days i found a 100% Time correct Proof that the first Pic was taken
on the Event...

in the Autoweek / Competition Week Issue from 27 February 1965 there was a
pretty similar Pic from C.S. on the Event
---  same Jacket, same fleet, same bracelet, same
haircut and of course the same snake ---

but i think this time that was taken on the grass and not on the hood from the "R"...

Also notice that report about the hot bus lap and there was about 50 Reporter.

Again Autoweek / Competition Week was the first who has a Pic and a report from
the Event...

of course in a newspaper the news come faster as on magazine like Road & Track
or others.

but at this point in my research the AW was the first who drives in a GT350, post
a pic from the GT350 and write about the RIR Event...

The first GT350 I saw was a 65 parked next to a snack bar in the esses. Love at first sight/sound. I remember going to see the GM Parade of Progress with the Futureliners. Getting my dad to take me to see the new Sting Ray (my grail car at the time). Seeing and hearing the Chrysler Turbine car at the local shopping center. Seeing the Mustang at the NY Worlds Fair and taking the Ford ride. Gas Ronda's car and he at the Ford dealer. Big time drag racers and cars visiting high school at the dawn of the AFX and Funny Car era. Seeing GT350Hs while passing Hertz store taking dad to LAX for work trips - never could get him to rent one for me. I guess the best part was the cars were being used as intended and not trailered anywhere. They were rode hard and put away wet. Day two mods were the norm not a sin.
Right time right place all the stars aligned etc etc etc.

After a long time i was able to get some new content
for more than only one pic or post

first i have to thank HONKER for the last post
of the french magazin

Very Good post with some very good early Pics from 5R002
from the day with some break dust on the front wheels
but clearly see the bright shining wheels

also i dont see the a pic bevor where two Shelbys was on the raceway

the street GT350 was not make on the track, i would love to see the
License Plate to have some research ( i know that is not bulletproofed thing)

i also find a German and Swiss Car Test with Similar Pics from Track and Street
but i have to do some research on that.

this time only Street GT350`s shown on the track,


most of the other pics and text are very technically and shows wireing, mufflers
brake stuff


but for me the most important pic is showing CS standing befor a row of GT350,
surely a Introduction Pic, in bright colour and the same like on the other pics,
suit, haircut, the Cobra and the fleet ... STRIKE again.


important notice: first i was stunning to see the Mustang emblem on the left side ...
i read about that is happend somtimes but i was very skeptical to see
the steering wheel from the next GT350 on the left side

So it was very clear: The Pic was mirrored for the use in the magazine


i reversed it and can see and decide some notice:

- next to the Street Car stands 5R002; see the Plexiglas side Window lip, the rollcage and very little the big front opening

- same CS like on the other pics, but in beautiful colour

- third Pic shows CS standing different (5R002, GT40, Econoline)(CS on the Gras with fleet)(CS and GT350 in a row)

- it stands like the same point like the first pic i showed in the Thread, except the first street standing closley to 5R002





What do you think, share your thoughts.

   Nope ! Turn eight. You have to remember where the Mountains were. The second picture without water is turn 9. Sorry I spent too much time there LOL

Meanwhile i find another Car Magazin,
gladfully in German again, magazin is the Major Label in Germany

looks like the same spot on RR and pretty the same Point in Time, just a few Moments later
from the Pic fron HONKER / L`Automobile


the other Site and Pic shows the well known 5S003 on LAX, driven by Timanus

   The one of the R model turning right is turn 8 not the "short" 8A as we used to call it right about where the 8 IS on your map. The "static" picture of 003 is a staged photo with John Timanus( rip) at the wheel.
