I located these two cars several years ago.  Both were sitiing for many years.  GT500 auto and GT350 4speed.  They are still in his garage.  Thought I would share the picture.  The person in the photo is not the owner.

 Reminds me of the good old boy I got my 63 split widow from. He had not driven or done anything with it in years, so I asked him why did you hang onto it for over 50 years if it just sat there. He said because every time I walk by it , it puts a smile on my face. :)

Side-Oilers

Those cars have a lot less dirt, cat paw marks, and chicken poop on them than at the typical guy's house who says he's gonna restore his cars someday.

Money in the bank.  I've made worse investments.

In the early 70's next door to a buddy's farm,  a '66 GT350 sat rotting into the ground.  The car had been vandalized while parked at a local dealership years before.  Someone tore the dash pad apart to steal the tach.  Other damage was done as well. The owner was so disgusted at the dealership's treatment, he dragged it home and parked it in a hay field.  I probably could have had the car for the asking.  Back then, the thought of floorboards and quarter panel rot was the deciding factor to crush.  The car disappeared sometime in the 76-78 time frame.  Curious what became of it.  In '77 I was able to buy my '68 GT500 with no rot or collision damage, less than 30,000 miles for $3000.  It sat parked beside the road in Clinton, MA for 6 months with a For Sale sign before I could earn the cash.  Everyone in the family said I was a fool.  Since turned down profoundly stupid money for the Tasca sold car.

The man sure is trusting the hood rod to hold the complete hood in place, notice the hinges aren't even attached :o

The 350 is 8T02J165433-02071.  I do not have the numbers for the 500.

I finally got the guy up the street to give me a number for his 63 Fuelie. The problem was there were no two parts attached to each other. When we started looking he remembered that he had loaned the FI unit and heads to a friend - long dead to get his car running. The more we look the bigger the missing parts list became. He did have NOS glass, trim and rubber along with the piece to fix where it had been converted to a one piece rear window. He found someone else with $18,000. In hindsight it may not have been such a bad deal.
