Does this refer to a specific tire or another name for a production tire on a 1968?

I don't know for sure but suspect it is another name for the uncommon speedway 350 or polyglas blackwall tire.

In 1968, early cars used the small letter Speedways, transitioned to the large letter Speedways and then finally the black side wall Polyglas GT.

Well? Semantics I suppose? You had to be a "Sport" to buy a new set of those tires. They were around twice the price of the less popular "jabonga" brands.

     Pete,
My local Goodyear dealer pushed Blue Streaks in '65-66 and also carried the "Speedway 350" in '67 , but for '68 the big push was for Polyglas tires. Then in '69 the 60 series tires were the "have to have" tire , even over "not street legal" race tires they also sold. The less expensive "Rally GT" was the next addition.

Thanks Randy

I thought there was a Sport tire, but I may be thinking of Firestone

Goodyear also had 'WIDEBOOTS GT; advertised in 1968.

The lettering actually read 'WIDETREAD GT"

Yes Firestone had a "Sports 200" tire with raised white lettering. It was targeted to the Camaro bunch. Didn't last long as the "Wide Oval" was available in more sizes and got more advertising.
