Sort of a proprietary process. It involves shaving the sidewall, degreasing the sidewall cutting the virgin white rubber lettering and then vulcanizing the lettering to the tire. A blue pin stripe is then added. The lettering can be to any dimension the customer asks for. The GT350 tires were done to a specific size that mimicked the GOODYEAR lettering on the originally supplied tires when the car was new.

That is very cool. 

I was wondering.  Watching the TV Show "Counting Cars" the guys went to a Shop to check out their Laser Engraver set up.  It actually did a 3D image of the Metal Plate and then it engraved the inputted design into the metal plate and the guy said it could Engrave just about anything.  It didn't even heat up the metal plate at all and it was super fast.  Could that work on your Tires?  The Laser would outline the Letters and Emblem then engrave everything around them basically shaving the tire sidewall down a little at a time leaving the Letters and Emblems at factory height so all you would have to do is paint them, add the Pin Stripe to the design so it to has the Embossed effect.  You might even be able to do it with the Tire inflated on the Wheel.

I'm not sure about the laxer thing, reminds me of a movie where a person orders a package of body modifications gets on the operating table and the laxer goes nuts.

The way we got started in the sidewall business was when a friend ordered a printer where you could print onto the sidewall of the tire. I think we printed one set, then the machine went KAPUT.

What's the width of the blue stripe? If doing for a Cobra?

I also have 235/60 15 TA's on front of my 67 GT500..lowered A arms...no issues

Just curious, do you think you could get away with a 245-60 in the T/As on a 67?

The tire size is 225 60 15

I see that Avon jumps from 225-60 to 245-60. Is that a bridge too far? I'm building a 65 R-Model tribute and wondering if I can go up to 8" wide wheels and wider tires.

From personal experience, the widest tire I could getaway with on my '67 was 235R60-15 (Radial T/A and Eagle GT IIs) on MagStars.  And even then I had to roll the fender lips.  Others may differ in opinion.

      I have 8"x15" PS ENG. wheels, mounted, with AVON 225x65R15's, at all 4 corners, on my '66 Shelby.

      The fenders are rolled, as I like a crisp, aggressive, wheel/tire combination and I have no rubbing.
