some more input would be great, how do I test the tachs the easiest way? I would like to check them all before I sell them.

thanks for some answers yes the 67 and 68 camera bezels are easy to see, edges are rounder on 68 also and different wiper, turn signal, high beam indicator etc.

But as I said I´m not sure if there are original factory delivered 67 (68) Shelbys´s with 8000 rpm an NO redline as I always see them with redline.

But on the other hand I have seen all CJ Mustangs 4 speed´s from 68 (automatic were without speedometer) with no redline.

I know the instrument is maybe one of the parts that became restored on these cars first. So there can be things that never were factory etc.
Kent ,I have seen both 67 and 68 Shelby's with and without red line on many occasions  . Anyone how says absolutely one way or the other for ether year hasn't done enough research.

Little off topic but a true memory with regards to the '67 tach. Shortly after I bought my '67 GT 500 my mom and I we're heading from SF to Seattle Washington. Was moving along quite well when my mom says "seems like we are going faster than r-mph"! She was looking at the tach, not the speedometer on the left! Shortly after....near Redding....got pulled over by CHP....not for speeding but because my inboard high beams were to bright! Ah, found memories!

Also, think the 0-100 oil pressure gauge for the '67 is different than a '68 0-80.

Ok but were there Mustangs with a 8000 rpm tach and redline? It really drives me crazy as I never have seen a Mustang with redline 8k tach. And usually all Shelby´s I have seen had this redline.

No don't believe you will find a 67 Mustang with an 8 grand tach. Might be the reason you haven't seen one other than one someone added if you had

I mean the 68 mustangs which had 8k tachs if there was one with redline.

Sorry but sometimes its hard to write everything in English so it's easy for other to misunderstood.

For the gauge pod are there any opinions if its original or repro.

How can I test the tachs? Maybe without an running engine.

Can someone tell me how to identify an original gauge pod? I don't want to take off the one in my Shelby but I have the one on the pictures which was sold to me as an original.

It looks original to me but the bracket holding the instrument in the pod seems to be broken in one picture.
Also, the small screws holding the front plate look like philip types and the ones I have seen are all slotted screws.
Please be aware that Marc Hefte of Walnut Creek, CA bought Shelby's stock of these 67 parts when production stopped in L.A.
I visited him many years ago and bought several pods with the holes for the Shelby instruments as well as the brackets
holding the instruments in the pods.

Mark Hefte was not looking to good the last time I saw him. He did buy a lot of stuff over the years. Used to run a set of Pantera wheels on his early Mustang.
