Wanted Concours Restored 1967-1968 Mustang GT 4 Spd. I would consider a Fastback (First Choice), Coupe or Vert. Will pay top dollar for the right car.

Early 68's still ran 289's.  The 302 came Mid Year. About the same time as the 428 CJ and the Chrome external Rear Side Markers.

Yes early to mid 68 M/Y used 289 C codes ( 2V ), no A code 4V's. I have 2 of these cars ( C code ) one an Feb. build San Jose car and the other a Mar. Metutchen car. No! 302 J codes came earlier than that. 68 GT350's are J code 302's and they were produced starting in Nov. 67. A few maybe earlier than that. Note; all 68 J code's are 4V engines. Ford never put a 302 2V in the Mustang for M/Y 1968. If Perry truly wants an A code he will be shopping for a 67.

Yes sorry I should have been more specific.
The small block 68 GT would have to be the J code if Perry does only want a small block GT

(I'm also pretty sure 289s could be ordered Thru all of 68 but I think the confusion lies in that mid year they ran out of 289 blocks and used 302 blocks but the cars were still 2v C codes...but that's all for another discussion another day)

Unsure if Perry knows you could get a 67 2v C code GT

Thank you for all the info. I'm looking for a small block. I recently sold my 68 GT350 and 70 Mach 351. I'm itching for another Mustang!

What is mid year? Shelbys were being built early in the model year(strike year) with 302s.  I'm not aware of the 289s going away mid year? Wouldn't that still be a 2V option like they had 65- 67 and carrying on for years to come(302 2v in 69). Now you are going to have me looking at 68 marti reports...  Here is a June 17th  built 289 2V Mustang. Here is a DEc 2nd built 302.
