Someone did a excellent job recreating the tag. The VIN plate has the correct nuance details and reverse stamped letters and numbers are indexed the same. The typical repro plate is easily spotted and the number and letter execution are off. Without the patina VIN plate to so show comparison that the tag had been replaced it would be hard to tell by that it alone.

I expressed to Michael the only way to resolve this is to inspect both cars carefully and in person. Additionally, research needs to be carefully conducted on histories.

It becomes particularly difficult if each retains some original parts.

Its never good when two cars have the same numbers

Have anyone going through the older SAAC Registries to see when that VIN# was first registered and looked at the details?

Are you sure the GT at Aalderink is a fake? Is there any proof? It is recentst for sale.
Looks pretty good with all the documentation and Aalderink is a pretty famous and solid dealer who has a good name. I should be sure when I tell them.

Unfortunately, business and people get deceived all the time. Can't count the number of times the "bad news" has had to be delivered to unknowing sellers and owners. That is why we try hard to keep others from making the same mistakes or possibly taking the risks. History\, documentation and VIN's don't tell the whole story it's the current facts and findings that should provide the true current conditions.

Even with the internet and access to tons more information than was possible in decades past locations, buyers and cars outside of the US and North America have a more difficult challenge. In the last year help buyers in Hungary and Norway. In both cases the cars were not what they were claimed to be. Unfortunately one contact was after the purchase and had been moved from one country to another adding to the challenges.

Good luck
