For gaskets that are not painted on a finished engine

- White/off white colored intake side gaskets. May have top and bottom markings

- Cork end intake gaskets without any FelPro markings ;)

- White/off white fuel pump and thermostate housing gaskets May have top and bottom markings visible

- Valve cover cork gaskets finished in black on the top and bottom surfaces as if (how it was produced) the material had been coated then the gasket cut from the larger sheet. Locating tabs showing/sticking through the locator holes in the valve covers.

- Same thing with the oil pan gasket

- Carburator gaskets in a dark blackish colored paper

- Head gaskets had a small hole punched in the visible surface at the front and rear of the head with no aftermarket part number

Hope this helps

Just to be clear, the locating tabs should then be black as seen from above, correct? Thanks

I have several sets of original , ink stamped , "white" ( I can't use the material call out) 289 intake gasket sets for '65-67, and ONE set for '68. They will be at SAAC 43 if not sold before like all the steel shim head gaskets did. Thoroughbred quality . $40 + the ride while they last. PM if interested.

For a '66, should any part of the cork gaskets be painted argent [silver]? If so, should the tabs be black [seen from the top]?

Thanks again,

The silver is only seen on the bigblock gaskets and not the on the smallblock gaskets.

No for the first (gaskets painted silver on big blocks with chrome or cast valve covers as Bob posted)  but yes to the second part.  Black on the tabs and edges (top and bottom of the gaskets) only. Same for the oil pan gasket also ;)
