tried one mo' time but it leaked from the (new) pump diaphragm when you pumped the throttle. Off to a pro to machine it flat. T'ain't for a lack of effort! thanx guys...learning a lot here. steve

OK, time for the denouement! The primary bowl was too warped along the bottom lip to be salvaged and some one, while installing helicoils in the accelerator pump orifice, drilled all 4 holes though the bowl. We were concerned there wan no good long term solutions, but only an epoxy bandaid. So, for the moment, I've got a compatible front bowl and the car is back on the road. In the meantime, I'll be looking for the correct bowl with no defects. thanx steve
