Seems like every Mustang or Shelby I have purchased radio is always disconnected especially if car has been sitting. Specific to my GT500, is it easy to connect radio from underneath dash or does console need to be removed to connect radio?

The console does not need to be removed.

Just remove four screws for bezel. There may be a nut on the back of the radio if its installed correctly.

Then you have the antenna and two wiring connections to deal with

The bezel and radio come out as one unit

To get to the nut on back, you can also take the glove compartment liner out and reach through there
