Mustang Shelby GT - as Shelby as they come

Again here is yet another great article pointing out just how important and special these fantastic vehicles are to the Shelby Heritage.


𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙗𝙮 𝙂𝙏 – "𝙖𝙨 𝙎𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙗𝙮 𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚."
The 2005 Mustang reawakened Shelby's relationship with the Mustang, and in 2006, Ford Racing, Hertz, and Shelby collaborated to build the 2006 Shelby GT-H -- a limited 500-unit run of Shelby-modified black-and-gold Mustang GTs exclusively for Hertz's rental fleets reminiscent of the original Shelby-GT350H "rent-a-racer" from 1966.

The following year, consumer and dealer demand for the Shelby GT-H prompted Ford Racing and Shelby to join forces to create the Shelby GT.

Ford shipped new Mustangs straight from the Flat Rock factory to Shelby's facility in Las Vegas for the requisite mods.

The Ford Racing Performance Parts (FRPP) catalog was tapped for functional upgrades.

A new intake, ECU, and exhaust – the FRPP "Power Pack"- squeezed another 19 hp and 10 lb-ft of torque out of the GT's 4.6-liter V-8 for a total of 319 hp and 330 lb-ft.

Upgraded springs, dampers, and thicker sway bars comprising the FRPP "Handling Pack" were installed to significantly improve handling, while a FRPP short-throw shifter and X-pipe were also added.

Shelby GT-H grille insert and badge
Silver striping (over the top, rockers)
"SHELBY" deck lid badge
Embroidered floor mats
Shelby sill plate
Shelby dash plaque
Shelby underhood plaque

Given the production model used, and functional and aesthetic upgrades involved, Hagerty has concluded that the Shelby GT "was as Shelby as they come."

With just 7,865 Shelby GTs built between the 2007 and 2008 model years, this car is a very rare Shelby indeed.

Great article on these late model Shelbys and.....

I betcha back in the 1960s you had people discounting the original "secretaries car".

You could hear "those guys" in the 1960s saying:

Its got a plate in the engines bay " how special"

I "betcha that plates good for 5 H.P. more"... lmao

It's just a regular mustang with these "cute stripes and scoops" on them

I could do the same,  put a cam in it, better yet a bigger cam and make it even faster than that Shelby.

Cant believe anyone would pay that much for that "Special Shelby" car, I can put all the handling stuff on and drop the suspension FOR A WHOLE LOT LESS !

Oh those "SHELBYs" that's just a over priced stripe, emblems and wheel package...

Well you get it or maybe you dont.

But it ALL boils down to that Mustang taking that special trip to get hot rodded, moded or Shelbysiezed.

Back in the day to California or today to Nevada for that desirable and legitimate C.S.M. number.

Making them...Shelbys the Real Ones !

These cars are such a deal right now.  Nowhere to go but up, especially with the fact that they had true Shelby influence. 

I picked up a 2008 Shelby GT from my uncle in Vista Blue.  He bought it new and it only has 16k miles on it.  The car is an absolute blast to drive.
