How well did it crank your smallblock? Did it seem like it turned it over well or just enough to start it?

It'll do o.k. but, for multiple starts (say having to move 3 or 4 times in a short period of time), I'd have a jump box along. If, on a long ride, it will have time for the alternator to recharge to a sufficient level.

I do appreciate the insight . That is significantly lower in price but seemed to be also significantly lower in capacity compared to the higher capacity Odyssey ODS-AGM28 that we discussed previously is why I wondered. It sounds like the ODS-AGM16L (PC680) would be better then the lawn mower batteries I have used in the past however. It is on my to do list to track down the Odyssey ODS-AGM28 battery to confirm that it will fit inside the Autolite shell and will report back so others can benefit.

Don't laugh at the PC680.  It looks small but packs a pretty good punch for its size.  I use one in my track car and it's never failed me over years of three day week-end events. Not only that, if left on the shelf, it holds its charge for up to two years. In addition, it saves me well over 15 lb. vs. the stock battery.  I just remembered that I used one in my '95 Cobra R and it was more reliable than the car (but that's another story).

Kinda confused,

Or

It'll do o.k. but, for multiple starts (say having to move 3 or 4 times in a short period of time), I'd have a jump box along

I've been at Mustang shows where the organizers had me move my car 3 or 4 times before they made up their minds. My cautionary comment about using the PC680 is not really about the actual battery itself but the way you have to incorporate it into the shell of the repo AUTOLITE.  It requires using terminals and wires, drilling and tapping the undersides of the lead posts. This adds resistance to the equation. If it were simply a matter of using the PC680 by itself and connecting it to the + and - leads of the car, I would have no concerns. Just having a powerpack along makes good sense.  As for using the PC680 in my track cars, even the 351 in the Cobra R, it fired it up even in below freezing temps. While on track, at high rpm, it had ample opportunity to recharge.

While we're on the subject of batteries, although not "concours", I was at WalMart and saw that they now have EVERSTART Group 24F lead-acid WITH the old end mounts we need! They stock a one year warranty for $69.95 and a two year warranty for $109.95.

Done deal

If I'm reading Bob and Ed's posts above, that is the wrong battery look for concourse, the caps should be red, the rest should be black

Yes it would not pass in concours. Not even close for a concours venue. It may fill the bill for the local car show or cruise night however.

The Unifill battery would not be a factory correct replacement for any year Shelby or Boss. It was a over the counter high performance alternative. However it is a very interesting piece of Ford history.
