The car was not built for show, but to drive, as such, form and function has always been the key here. A stock air filter robs the engine of airflow, affecting performance and efficiency. a stock HiPo type air filter 13.5" x 2" you see on these cars equipped with a single 4V vs this cars 14"x3" K&N with 14" extreme top (which flows 500cfm by itself),  and you start to get the idea of why it is there.

Using the simple formula
A= effective filter area
CID=engine displacement
RPM=maximum RPM expected
Using the CFM formula of height X diameter x 6 x 3.14

Stock style filter include in sale if a buyer wants it  :)

Hope you find this helpful in understanding why the air filter is the way it is.

What an awesome car! and I agree with a Functional air filter and carrying a "Show filter" in the  trunk.and yes I just coined a new phrase. feel free to use it sparingly! Best of luck on a fast sale. one cannot build a car and get through the registration process as quickly as simply buying this well sorted Cobra!

Appreciate the kind words, I'm not keen on actually selling it, more so the 70 Shelby convertible so I can downsize from my Expedition as an Explorer would be on the ragged edge of it's towing capacity with the Shelby on a trailer, where the rest of our collection can easily be towed by one. In the mean time, we shall continue to use it as it's rotation comes up.  8)
