Pics 1968 and March 1971

Hey Guys,

The 2nd owner of my car Mr. Kevin Mahoney (1968-74) sent me some info and history on #861 as well as two original polaroid pics.  The first was taken shortly after Kevin purchased the car in 1968 and the second is dated March 1971 with a replacement fender.  Kevin said that he "hit a tree in a snowstorm" and ordered parts and had Wilmington Ford do the repairs.  A few of notable quotes from his write up ...

"I raced it at Epping NH.  I also road raced it around Weston, Ma.  It was the hottest and fastest car in town and got me the head cheerleader!  We would go fishing and camping to N.H  We would fold down the rear seat, open the hatch into the trunk and sleep."

"I use to road race with a GTO, 2 other Shelby's (GT500 & 350) 427 Biscayne, 427 Corvette, 426 Hemi Cuda and a lot more.  It was the 60's and 70's and we loved it!  Got clocked doing 130 on a Mass pike racing Al's GTO.  I won of course!  Nobody will ever have the thrill with that car that I had.  Its too expensive to do what I did to it!"

Great stuff!  So glad that I was able to locate Kevin and his willingness to share stories and pics.  Kevin, closed his letter by saying "I've been searching for that car for 30 years!"

Yep that's the way it looked when I bought it from Kevin (his dad sold car to me) with  primed fender. Also had large primed area on left 1/4 panel. He wasn't the only one that got to 130 or raced it at Epping

Maybe someone will recognize my car that also ran up in that neck of the woods. Car 1189 Nightmist blue, 4 speed, tunnelport powered, ran at Epping raceway,Hampton raceway NY and a few others out that way. Ran BLUE CHEER on the sides of it, was taken off the road in 1971 due to a street racing incident. Now 47 years later she is prowling the streets again  I hope SOMEONE will remember it from back in the day.

71 little before my time. I was 16 in 74 when I got mine.  I remember may be another seven or eight Shelby's in the area. Only other nightmist blue iwas a 350
