This appears to be in the Venice shop, "CSX2286" marked on the spring tower, and they are fitting a FE engine.
I'm sure our resident experts can chime in with what version motor it is?? MR, perhaps a STD Cobra engine?

So was the chassis modified to accept the FE prior to shipping over to Modena for the bodywork to be fitted?

   Jim ,
It's a high riser headed 427 ( all cast iron except the intake) by the intake manifold I see.

While the chalk appears to be csx2186, that could possibly be csx2196 aka flip top that first had a 390 engine. Thought the first attempt to put a big block into a a csx2000 series by Ken Miles was csx2196 then later in a Daytona coupe. Then again am getting more senile each day!

The triangulation on the chassis makes me think it's definitely a coupe, and if it's numbered 2286, that's what it was.

Yep, all the frame modifications would indicate a Daytona Coup chassis, roll bar, radiator support, etc...
