     Gary lots of things change ( hopefully for the better) . Many of the incorrect situations of the past have been dealt with and a Gold winner now is really a spectacular car. You are correct in that a gold winner from 25 years ago "might" not get a bronze  today because of all of the changes. A friend of mine has a '65 ( bought after winning Gold status 20+ years ago) . When I challenged him about some of the parts on the car he said "This car was done by (so and so) and besides WHO REALLY KNOWS?" . Now his comment is "Boy these guys are really nit picking these cars now."
    Yes the concours standards are higher and knowledge has increased.
