Rust on chrome bumpers

My front bumper has started to develop a bit of rust pitting.  I normally use steel wool and lubricant to remove rust, but the taillight thread inspired me to ask if others have alternate/better methods.

How old it is? Ford bomber? Or repro?

Another option to try.  wadded up aluminum foil and Coke.  Makes a sticky mess but easy to wash off.

Triple 000 steel wool and chrome polish will remove light rust. Follow up with just polish to finish the surface. If the light rust involves heavy pitting your best bet is to plan on re-chroming in the very near future. Best of luck.

Don't buy a re-poop from CJ, I had a horrible experience on a rear 66 bumper. They did not back it up, bumper bolt holes were in the wrong spot.

Rust is one thing, any kind of "pits" means time for a rechrome.

It's original, and yeah, overall not far off from needing a rechrome.  Only one or two small pits, so I'll see how much I can clean up with the steel wool tomorrow.
