I have a 289 hipo carb for sale. It is stamped C4OF-AL on the toe. The previous owner cleaned the carb up before I bought it. He also put a new kit in it so that it is ready to run. This carb is ready to run and go into your hipo right know. The price on the carb is $2100 plus shipping. If interested in more pictures, email gandcmurphy@rogers.com Thanks.

Thanks Greg,

I am well familiar with the late summer 1964 conversion of some number of C4OF-AL models to C50F-L models by Ford, i.e. 1964½ model year C4OF-AL carburetors reworked to become C5OF-L models for the 1965 model year. Hence the "C4OF AL" stamped bodies and "C5OF L" stamped tags. I have seen several of them and purchased one before. The data listed in Bob Mannel's book indicates that choke pull down specifications, primary jets, and secondary jets were different between the models.

Some people have the idea they are home grown somethings but they are legitimate Ford production. The trick is 1964½ Fairlane and late Cobra owners look for C4OF-AL bodies with C4OF-AL tags dated before August 1964.  Ford still used C4OF-AL carburetors after the introduction of the C5OF-L models. C4OF-AL tags on carburetors dated in October 1964 is one of the more common tag dates.

I'll send a PM.
