Hello,

Thanks to Brian Styles for posting this on his research group website.  In my eyes, this does give an indication that coupes and convertibles were planned to be offered sometime during the '67 model year.

Not that Shelby had not thought about offering coupes and or convertibles earlier, but considering the date of this document the info listing the codes for the coupe and convertibles would have been outdated and inaccurate as 67 production was already well underway by then and no coupes or convertibles were ever offered to the public. Unless they were thinking of introducing them sometime later in the model year.

How are the H for hardtop and C for convertible outdated and inaccurate on 10/31/66?  0131 has a Ford build date of 11/8/66 and 0139 has a Ford build date of 11/21/66.  Existing Shelby paperwork for these cars use the H and C Body Style codes.  I believe that the current research indicates these two body styles were planned for a mid-year introduction.

Do we know the Dates these three 1-car DSO's were typed/sent-in?

By the date of the letter, none of the 3 cars - 100, 131, 139 had been built at SJ yet.

All cars completed by the date of the letter (approx. 20 cars) had hand-engraved VIN plates.

Just as Eric said, Brian believes that SA hoped for a mid year introduction of a convertible and a notchback (hardtop).  All the problems that the first 100 '67 cars suffered from put a knife in that plan.
