same old story that they made 6  originals when thy only made 4.     beverly hills mustang slammed these together.  I also love the found 12 nos engines story.  Ive seen a couple  of these redone by competent restorers  but this one isnt one

How are these listed in the Shelby Registry, or are they even acknowledged?

CS reactivated his vehicle manufacturers license to build these. They are really the start of his continuation business and not clone/replicas. They built 12, 4 for CS, 4 for Brunk and 4 to be sold to pay for the whole deal. By law they were to get a certain percentage of new parts to qualify as "new" cars. They of course didn't. They were all thrown together hack jobs. I knew a guy working at Shelby's at the time and it took him at least a week on each of Shelby's cars just to get them in a reliable condition.

Interesting that the car has less than 11,000 miles on a "NEW" 289 HIPO and it was rebuilt less than 1,000 miles ago...
It would still be a cool car to cruise around in..

I saw a blue-on-white one at Shelby Gardena in '18 before the auction.

It didn't look particularly well finished inside.  Cheezy '80s radio, seats, and some other non-1966 items.

Were any of these originally K models?  I'd guess probably not.

I saw the blue one in Gardena in the Goodyear lobby back before the renovation.  It was also put the Shelby American Las Vegas collection sometimes.  I believed it was owned by one of Carroll's sons.  It was poorly finished with rumpled carper and seats, over spray and sloppy wiring under the hood.

I recall from early press that they scoured a dozen rust free K-code convertibles to build the cars from... true? We are debating details of 60s press releases... A car I saw at the '85(?) Anahiem Nationals was not that nice for a NEW restoration...

This blue car looks NOTHING like the others I'veI've seen. At least the others had period-ish interiors

There is a blue one in SA Heritage Museum that has front seat head rests.
