Okay, can someone pls. clarify and then perhaps explain what a '67 (any '67) would have left the LAX facility wearing-hubcaps or m'stars.  Did SA decide on its own or was it predicated on the respective order form in advance or by the dealer once it landed.  Meaning-the car left LAX with something on its feet-was that it or could the dealer then alter the "factory" application.  And, if so, what would be considered "SA/factory correct".

I think there is paperwork that would tell you....maybe a Marti report might help also?

Cars were ordered and delivered in blocks of features like GT500 or GT350, Auto trans or 4 speeds, thermector emission controls or none, and one of three choices for wheels: Magstars, hubcaps or ten spokes.  Also A/C and exterior color/ interior colors.  Check out the DSO project to get an idea how cars were 'packaged':

For clarification "were delivered" means from Ford SJ plant . A large majority of cars were were ordered /built by SA on speculation . With that said there are many instances where dealers would switch wheels around to satisfy a custome so as to make a sale. The ultimate tell would be a dealer to customer contract/receipt that describes what you got for your money. I heard of one original buyer for example who had steel wheels and hubcaps switched to his car so as to discount the price some .So it went ether way.

to the OP question - Yes Shelby American ordered the cars and which one of the three wheel types to be installed on the car at San Jose.

Initially cars were coming with Mag Stars and then the other two types were being added to the mix.

And as Bob has pointed out, and others doing research on Shelby paperwork have noticed wheels were at times changed at both Shelby American and at Dealer locations.

Some Shelby internal paperwork for an number of cars with hand written notations over/in place of typed entries in the wheel notation areas of the form are thought to indicate a wheel change.  The Marti Report may not match the internal paperwork as the Marti report - if I understand correctly - references the DSO order sheets of how the car was to be made at San Jose not the Shelby paperwork from when Shelby American was completing the car for shipment.  (This may be the case with radios too)

Best to see if the registrar (Dave M) has any paperwork on "your" car or if you already have a copy of internal Shelby paperwork on your car and if there are any such notations.
