Great day for the Atzbach collection.
Regarding 6S002, that looks like an alloy water pump (?).
Was that car built from a mid 65 production Mustang??
I could hardly imagine a restoration error at this level of finish.

Wrong instrument bezel, wrong tach face & possibly more. Don't know how this car could have gone through two restoration shops that seemed to know so little about carryovers.

There was a 427 cobra and a slab side that went a little later today, the price on both seemed a little light. 

A little voice is telling me I must reply.
It is a street 289 Cobra.

Ok Jim as long as you went there (not that I disagree!) may I also say it was a 428 Cobra made into a 427 Cobra?

Ok, the difference is that "Slabside" is a derogatory term, IMO, to original Cobra owners, while 427 Cobra instead of 428 Cobra was an 'in period' term used by SA. Slabside was 'invented' in the 80's, most likely the 90's, by the replica group.

I'll just add, I heard the term "Slabside" being used as early as SAAC 7, 1982 Mostly by 427 owners

Fun day yesterday in the Road Art auction. I think the car prices also drove up parts prices. But as Vern said, "those parts are getting hard to find" lol. And where can you find all of the rarest '65 Shelby parts (horn switch, tach, battery caps, horn button) all for sale in one place. John had and awesome collection that few can rival.

Most certainly a great opportunity to be at the auction. Truly, this was the first event where I was more interested (overall) in the Road Art than the cars.

John A, as all now know, amassed a fantastic collection. And, it was great to see some familiar / new faces as well!
