Bought this issue of the news stand while a college student. A couple bucks was a trivial amount at that time in my life. Dinner often consisted of a 33 cent generic box of Mac & Cheese. If finals week wrapped up, I tossed in Jenie-O turkey franks.

I still have this issue BTW. Tattered from being read over and over while I was convincing myself staying in school was a worthwhile endeavor.

These are really neat photos of the Shelby, Torino, and Cougar found in that old Playboy. I wouldn't have thought a scan out of an old issue could look that good. You must have cleaned tidied them up quite a bit!

This Cougar looks sharp in the GT-E option with the blue paint, silver accent, and redline tires. what a great combo of details.

The GT-E pictured in the Feb. '68 Playboy is of course a pre-production show unit. It seems it was the one and only GT-E produced with the redline tires.

GT-Es came with a choice of 11 upper body colors; Onyx, Cardinal Red, Wellington Blue, Black Cherry, Glacier Blue, Madras Blue, Caribbean Blue, Augusta Green, Lime Frost, Grecian Gold and Nordic Blue - with unique body side moldings and silver gray argent below the molding.

The Playboy GT-E looks to be Madras Blue Poly.

Too bad the redlines weren't used in regular production they add an additional wow factor.

I'm guessing that this is a Sunlit Gold convertible, and the color is a bit off from a combination the print process and maybe the photo being take at dusk.
The grille light pedestal stand do appear very tall, it could be the reflections, but are the lens bodies sitting a bit higher?

That GT500 looks just like I wanted to order back then. I actually filled out an order form but got to thinking about either a community college or the University of Vietnam and decided I couldn't afford it either way so I didn't send in the order
