Rich,

These are the notes that I have on this car on my license plate records:

"CHARLES C. GREEN  LEASE 8/12/66 (4/13/66 - 8/12/66) - My records show this car going to Detroit, MI"

The first comments came from Howard and I added to comment about the car going to Detroit.

Re: DC3 aircraft

Has there ever been any investigation on Shelby's DC3 company plane? How long was it used? Was it replaced by another corporate aircraft? Is it still around? What is the ID number? Unlike cars, aircraft ID numbers are closely tracked.

68countrysedan,

Good questions. Hope someone can provide answers.

In reference, to the picture, of the Cobra and Shelby, parked next to what, was probably
    Shelby's DC-3.

This spot, is located, to the east, of the North American hangers, that Shelby, occupied.

Directly across the 24 runways, you can see Continental Airlines terminal. You can make
out the "Meatballs" on the tails, part of Continental's livery, for their 727's.

Additionally, Directly above the Cobra, you can just make out a TWA 707 taxiing out, for
take-off. TWA's all white livery, is hard to see, but the red arrow from the nose to the tail
    is quite visible.

I worked for TWA, at LAX, during this period and I was fortunate, to see, row after row of
Cobras and Shelby's lined up, outside the SA hangers. And occasionally, at night, if the
hanger doors were open, you would get a look, at the GT40's inside.

It was those memories, from back then, that interested me, later, in acquiring, a copy of
the painting, " Shelby LAX "  by David Snyder.

An airplanes tail number stays with the plane throughout its existence, unless maybe it is transferred out of the country. The Shelby liveried DC3 / C47 should be traceable by its tail number. I was able to locate my Grandfathers WACO F2, bought new by my Great Grandmother in 1931 to its present owner, it still carried the same tail number even though it started on the east coast and ended up on the west coast.

68countrysedan, interesting about the Shelby planes, I have a photo which I posted on the old forum of a Lear jet landing, or taking off, maybe just making a low pass, but the gear is down, as are the wing flaps  ??? on what looks to be the track  :o  at Kent in 1967, might have been for the last Trans Am race that year. the info I had with that image said Carroll was on board ? the regi for that Lear (s/n 24-126) was N653LJ, and it was owned by Friedkin Ent. at the time. I never had any solid information regarding that episode ?

What does the GT350 say on the fender? I tried to blow it up but too blurry. Looks like it may be the early Cobra Owners Club of America decal on the fender and windshield.

Coming back to the Shelby DC-3 for a moment, if someone knows the tail # you might start here. all that depends on if the plane was registered to Shelby American, or some other name ? there are hundreds of them here.

Hello,

Looks pretty accurate of a location to me. Of course, the wide angle lens will make the edges of the photo curved a bit.

I wonder what year that photo was taken?  I'd guess it's after Shelby's time there, due to what looks like a vast number of oil/grease spots on the concrete this side of the blast wall.

Also, it looks like the area for the North Runway had already been mostly cleared of houses. I lived just about where the top of the magazine you laid over the photo would be. That runway clearing project began around 1964 and went through about 1968-69, IIRC.

I cant say ist exactly, sometimes i only copy and paste pics from internet,
without the exact source...

in the subtitle of the pics are standing

But I agree with you that it is made after the Shelby American because it is very clear and the oil spots of one hangar ...
