Good luck with your search! I sold a 1965 Mustang fastback in the mid eighties that I just located and the current owner is sending me pictures of it. I had the benefit of still having the VIN on file. A private investigator was able to locate it for me. It was just nice to know the car didn't end up crushed or rusting out in a field somewhere. Chances are very good that your old Shelby survived because they were collectible by that point in time, so it's probably out there somewhere!

That's a GREAT idea!  Being that the four people trying to buy it got in a bidding war with my mother, I'm positive it went to a collector.

My dad redid a 64 1/2  ragtop, a '58 corvette,  and a 56 T-Bird prior.

Are you looking to find the car to repurchase?If so there may be some "sticker shock" involved.These things got pretty pricey over the years.Just sayin.....Good luck!!!

The private investigator I used didn't charge me anything, he's a buddy of mine. He apparently had access to a program that could search the registration from the VIN, he had a name and phone number for me within 24 hours! Every six months or so for the last five years I would post pictures of it on Mustang Facebook pages hoping someone would recognize it, but it didn't ring any bells to anyone. Turns out this gentleman who is now 80 years old saw it sitting outside a shop many years ago, bought it, had it painted, and pretty much stored it away, hasn't had it out too much since apparently. At least I know it hasn't been crushed or sitting in a field rotting away somewhere.....
