I do not know why the passenger car tires that were being tested for durability a few days at best in the life history of the car have not been change by the last two owners. What a poor choice to highlight on a otherwise most excellent car IMO.  Those tires are a shoe in for the "Butt Ugly Tire" award. At least on any year Shelby past or present.

I think I can keep them at bay given that the test track was a small snap shot in time. Those ugly white wall tires would be appropriate if showing the car in station wagon tire test trim . All indications are that the rest of the time it had small letter Speedway tires and most likely including when it was delivered to the first customer.

Is it the photos or is the steering wheel stained awfully dark?

That is not a regular production factory wheel . It is a over the counter variety. I don't know when it got switched . It had the typical wheel on it when Ed Meyer and myself took it for a drive . No it didn't have the silly looking white wall tires on it then.

MagStars and small letter Goodyears are a must for the Supersnake.
That is how it appears in front of Mel Burns and how it was road tested in Drag Strip Magazine.

The 10-spokes on the Thunderbolts would be nice for a side display, but not on that special car.
They are so out of place ...and look horrible, in my opinion.

It is sad that the D'Agastini 1/10th scale die--cast company offers it only with those horrible wheels.
I'd buy the earlier edition tire set off eBay and put the right tires and rims on it as it was built by SAI.

Here's a picture of my car taken by the original owner in 1971. Obviously replacement tires sometime after the Speedways wore out🙂

Ive seen the car in person. Tires and wheels are low on my list 😉

I think its because of the film (CD/computer file) that shows ol' Shel rolling around the test track with those tires.  But true, they didn't help sell those tires.

Speedways: I recall looking at a 67 at a used car lotway back when.  Seems you could burn them bald in a short time.

You were lucky if you go 15K miles on the Speedways or Polyglas . 10K was more typical with a little spirited driving mixed in .

At least it has Le Mans stripes for that proper vintage Shelby look... White wall tires not so much.

It's a stunner for sure when I was in Vegas earlier this year they had it on display at the Shelby museum
