Carburetor spacer GT 350

Did the GT350 come from the factory with a spacer under the carburetor? Mine had a 1" aluminum spacer, but no foam seal under the hood, so when I installed new foam seal on air grab hood its to tight, had to install a 1/4" spacer for it to work.

I typically find a backlite space with a short straight metal nipple on 69/70 GT350 survivor cars . The one you picture I don't think was available until April of 69 and used on the Boss 302. I think the 351 W in the GT350 continued to use the same spacer with the short nipple. They were easily broken and when the 351 W spacer was dropped the Boss 302 spacer was the replacement.Ther is anecdotal evidence to suggest that the BOSS 302 spacer was introduced into 69/70 GT350 production before it ended.  It was improved part that was easier to attach the hose to and consequently didn't get broken trying to attach like the short strait nipple. So yes the picture is a new and improved version of what typically came on the 69/70 GT350 from the factory . There is a GT500 foam seal which is short and a GT350 foam seal that is tall . Each model got its own specific type of seal.That is because the engines sit differently in the chassis one taller then the other. The GT350 needed the taller foam seal because it sat lower in the chassis.

Bob, thanks for responding and verifying the setup that I used is probably as close to factory as I can get. This seems to work just fine and it works with my hood seal and seems to run fine, so I'm pleased.

That one works the same but I believe that is the earlier 68 type. The part evolved later in 68 possibly to the bakelite with the steel short tube also used in 69. Then to the backlite with the long steel tube used first on the Boss 302 in and possible later 69 on the GT350.

According to thecoralsnake.com the part number for the 1968 version is C8AE-9A589-F as seen in The Shelby Automotive recall letter.

The spacer with the short steel tube is super hard to find.  I looked for one for 10 years and never found one.

My spacer came in, 1/4" thick and now I have transmission kickdown rod issue's, it appears its to long.? anyone have this issue?
