One missing some parts showed up on eBay® since yesterday. Not mine but I am watching its auction.

C3OF-AJ  with assembly tag C3OF-AJ  A 4ED (Assembly Level A 1964 May 4th Week, which was a service replacement version. The core offered in general is a great looking core and would be a candidate for a top quality recommission as the body and cover die castings could be cleaned without destroying their as cast surface textures.

Damaged, missing or replaced with something else:

Choke heat shield (not rare)

Spark vacuum port brass plug (extremely rare in great to excellent condition)

Linkage hole in throttle lever has been enlarged (easier to replace the whole lever than repair if a correct version can be found)

S primary support (a.k.a. booster, cluster, aux. venturi) (rare)

The die cast zinc economy valve (a.k.a. power valve) cover is one of the parts different about service replacement units.

You are welcome. Any specific date range in mind? C3OF-AJ models were used in production between about mid-May 1963 until mid-May 1964. Most of the ones I have seen for sale the last twenty years that had tags, had tags dated in late 1963 or very early 1964.

It would appear that the carb had been worked over, at least assembled and reassembled. I would have to agree with the power valve cover, it should be the stamped variety. I was also concerned with the stamping on the left front mounting pad and the fact that the area on the bottom where the automatic vacuum port is located has not been modified in the same way I have seen others modified to increase the material thickness? I have seen this modification on all the C30F AJ carbs that I have had in my hands.

The base stamping of the ebay carb looks off to me.  The C is not stamped as deep as the rest of the numbers and is smaller.

Good discussion,

The odd stamping shows up in my study on a batch of service replacement carburetors dated 4ED. Three have turned up new old stock in Ford service part boxes that I know about.

The more common 1964 production assembly dates I have recorded over years are 3LA, 3LB, 3MA, and 4AB.  I have come across so many dated 3MA I don't even keep count in my spreadsheet anymore. I just say "multiple".

Just got a set of pictures sent to me of a 4ED dated assembly that was new old stock until 2011 when it got installed in a car for the first time. Same date and another stuttered stamp with a small leading C.
