Traffic from Oakland airport is Going to depend upon what time and what day. Traffic should not be too bad between about 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. but very much either side of that can be a real bear.

Roy is right.

From Oakland,  you will want to stay on the east bay side and come in by way of Hwy 880/80 through Vallejo (over the bridge) and west bound on Hwy 37.  Outside of 10a-2p you don't want to take the Richmond San Rafael bridge to 101 towards the track eastbound on 37.  Even early afternoon traffic is a mess leading up 37 to the turn onto 121 and can back up easily a mile+ before the intersection.  Westbound should be better.  Especially on Friday as all of 37 eastbound is bad from 101 east well past the turn.

Fixed it. Bay area traffic sucks 24/7. His 10a-2p tip just means a 20 minute trip will only take an hour during that time rather than the usual 2 hours.

What is the 580N and San Rafael Bridge like during the same hours?  We are coming up from south of SFO and last time took forever to go north through San Francisco via Golden Gate.  Scenic but a crawl through south SF roadwork.    Thinking going 101N to 80 over Bay Bridge to to 580N.
Just nuts.

Depending on the time, it can be good or horrible.  I come up from the bottom of the south bay and always go up 880. I look At the maps and before committing to the Richmond bridge I look at 37 @ 121 traffic.   If the trip puts me at 121 after 2p, I go through Vallejo. If it's before about 1:30 I stay w Richmond- 101n - 37E.

There are a number of times I first ventured south and went east over San Mateo, then north and it was fairly quick at midday.  After 3 PM it is starting to get s=nasty on 101S and 880N.
Just nuts.

I once met a guy for some sales calls in the Bay area and every time I talked to him, he stressed we could only travel between 10:00 and 2:00. Outside of that, traffic would be SO bad, we wouldn't make the appointments. He built it up to the point that I felt there was no way it could be that bad. It was TWO TIMES worse!

Reading the previous posts and the local knowledge, it is advisable to fly into Sacramento and stay north of S.F? Or are those roads going to be a parking lot also?

If you use Google maps it will generally get you there the quickest. If something happens along the way it will reroute you around the problems and save you a bunch of time. I have left San Francisco Airport and gone South and across the San Mateo bridge and back up North and that has saved me a lot of time sometimes.

If it starts it's streetable.
Overkill is just enough.

Naah.  Sac is too far away.  Oakland first-  San Jose second.

Lots of toll bridges in the bay area. Figure out how you want to pay before you go. Look for the car pool lanes too.

On the SAAC homepage ( http://www.saac.com ), the "SAAC Convention" side navigation points to a dead link at ( http://www.saac45.com ).  That website should redirect at a minimum.

Not sure who to tell except here.

Hi I would like to share one of the 2 place garage spots for the SAAC National event. Anyone want to buy half of a garage or let me buy one space in yours? Looking to garage my GT40.

Jim Herrud

Hi Rex, I have a garage reserved and no roommate. PM me to work out the details.

Totally new to the conventions.  I know there is still lots of coordination taking place. However, I have a few questions regarding hauling a car trailer from out of state to this event.
Is there parking for it?
The car, is there secure parking for it? either host hotel or track?

Looking forward to this!

thx

The host hotel is the same as it was for the 2018 convention.  Unless something changes for this event you'll be parking alongside other hotel guests.  There was not a secure designated spot where convention cars parked together.  Am hoping it changes this time around as I would like to drive my car to the event, if not will probably only plan on a day trip for the parade lap.  I did notice a few trailers parked on the street and back parking lot areas of the host hotel last time.  You'll want to get to the track early as there is limited amount of parking in the paved area and fills up fast. A large section of the paved area is for those who have rented out space.

We are planning A long trip from North Idaho in our coach towing an enclosed trailer . and after talking to Howard , is he right there will be parking at the track in a lot there ? as we can stay overnight and dry camp in our coach ? Thanks Jim
