Hi, does anybody know if there is a book on casting numbers on restoring a Shelby? I am looking for information on the casting number from the engine and parts associated with it like brackets, smog pumps, exhaust etc. and also information on parts that are specific to shelby's.

Thank you

Lot of factors to consider here, such as the DSO group, engine/trans pkg, AC or emissions...or both...or none.
Can you share the Shelby VIN number to help us out?
(They are all published in the registry, don't share the Ford VIN!)

Hello JCL67,

If your 1967 is a GT350 I highly recommend Bob Mannel's book: Mustang & Ford Small Block V8: 1962-1969.

Hi Jcl67,

I own 67412F2A01183 which was completed the same day at SJ and is of the same DSO group.  Mine is mostly original, including original paint, etc.  I know what I have messed with and most of original owner mods.  I would be glad to help.

You can find good solid help here on this site and specific focused information on a couple of others but there is no easy button where you can purchase a book, brochure, guide that will answer many of your questions all at one time Ford made too many changes during 67 and Shelby did a ton also so you need to focus (always include your cars Shelby VIN or the build date at San Jose) in your questions.

Also take some time and read old threads for related, same or similar questions

Welcome - hope we can help

Thanks, that helps a bit.

#01255 a 412F package (GT500 auto WITH emissions).
The basic knockdown unit was built at Ford's San Jose factory on 1/26/67. There were several different DSO groups built on that day with about 38 units destined for Shelby American to be completed. While they were all 500s, a few were automatic without emissions, and about half were 4-speeds also without emissions.

Your cars DSO group 84-2566 contained only 32 cars built over three days; 1/26, 1/27, and 1/30.
It might be best to look at the cars in that DSO group to match component parts against...such as 1183 who is right here to help!
