Not my words but they seem to be eluding to some some secret history on  this 68 GT500KR & at $420k i certainly hope so, any ideas apparently the clue is in the gold stripes & 69 wheels ,they left off the last vin#s.

Collector's Dream Cars Las Vegas LLC proudly presents... An original 1968 Shelby. 1 of 299 sold This is likely the rarest Shelby on the planet! 18K original miles! This car is a one owner car that was found in the back of a garage on jack stands since 1978. What is juicy about this car is the history. We would love to share it but the first clue is the '69 Shelby rims and gold striping. Like a time capsule, this car is original with no restoration. Its equipped like a true collector wants one 428 Cobra Jet, 4 speed, Air Conditioning, with the rear folding backseat. Any reasonable offers will be considered! We understand that buying on the web could leave room for uncertainty of the quality/ condition of the vehicle. We are happy to Facetime, Google Duo, or video anything you want to see specifically. For any vehicle inquiries please call us at 702-889-8482 office or call/text Mike Cimino – owner 702-544-0235

By his own ad there must be 299 more of "the rarest". Maybe he's got a story that the gold stripes denote it was a prototype Hertz car.

The seller is showing his ignorance. There is a laundry list of incorrect items including the  ones you mentioned (gold stripes and wheels) . The car has definitely been repainted

kjspeed

It's number 3933. Apparently the only one with mascara?

At that price those stripes better be real gold(and VERY thick)... :o

67 GT350

I have a only car also. It is the only one with the number that it has. Also, no signature. Never took the glove box off and had it signed, and re-installed it. NEVER!

'68 must have been the best year Shelby, since the most were sold.

nah there were so many left over on dealer lots in 69 it hurt the 69 sales. Lol ok, enough kidding while I think the 69 wheels look great on this car WTH is this seller talking about? Obviously he lives under a rock and doesn't know about the gold fuelie car. Gary

I can tell you exactly where that price came from, but I don't want to burn this thread to the ground.

Driven less than 400 miles a year (18k),  the rare parts are stripped off and two of the Shelby tags have been replaced.

Everything else you need to know is summed up by this statement from the auction ...
