Early Hood's Undersides Painted White or Black?

It's a good reference, but hard to know exactly in black/white photo if that is gray primer or white paint.  Regardless, we know that the white bottoms are something that was in practice after the move to LAX.

Most likely a primer prior to painting IMO because it is so flat in sheen. You can see a higher level of sheen in B/W photos of finished white bottom hoods.

i agree , and i don't think  a fresh-painted hood would be hold  on the ground like this ....

Also looks like there is writing in marker at each hinge area as well as passenger front corner.
