#448 owner by my good friend George. Bought out of Mass in 1976, first time on the road since then 14 months ago. Yes, really.

Wow from Robie Ford in Dorchester. Don't think they sold that many Shelby's. Back in late 67 I was at the dealer an they had a new red 427 Cobra on the floor. They were known for swapping 427s in new Mustangs at the time. I had the horny horrors for one but couldn't swing it. Got a new 68 302/4speed fastback instead.

Grumpy...
That's crazy, but I can see anything happening in the wild, crazy 60's.

You still made a great chioce with the 4 sp-FB ;)

As I was taking photos and looking, I was thinking how cool to have a Shelby like this just to drive, drive, drive it!!!

Everyday, even in the rain ;D
ALL of them should be driven they are cars meant to be used outside in all weather. The only time I'd park one is if there was salt on the road.

I did, I got only one.  But remember he drives it and under the hood isn't correct. Naturally he has replacement parts store "stuff" on the engine.

It was an act of congress getting the photos up on the OP. Give me a bit and I'll post it.....

Here's the engine photo. He had the hood closed when I got there (I parked next to the 500 w/my '16 GT ;D)

So, on my way out I snapped the engine photo.

Don't know why the photo is so big. The first few in my OP was normal, then the rest has been big. I used my cell phone and took all photos with same push of the button >:(

Bigfoot

Thnx for sharing.
Love the patina.
Have a Survivor Mustang in slightly less "dusty" condition.
Runs and drives.
Kudos to the owner.

Incidentally it always surprises me when Survivor cars don't look anything like this.
I know they exist but this condition seems to be the most "straightforward "

Thanks for the pics...!!

roddster

All cool.  Check out the cowl stamping or repair on the right side of the cowl.  Wow.

Bob Gaines

I need to mention that from the picture everywhere I look under the hood something has been changed . It unfortunately should not be used as a yardstick in case someone thought to .

I already mentioned that Bob at reply #19. Besides, I'm sure these guys are smart enough to know that.

Bill

The engine is not original to the car, having been removed early on in the cars life and if I am not mistaken, substituted for a small block when George bought it. George spent years putting together the engine as time and spare funds allowed, so don't expect to garner much in the way of originality from it. You will also notice the cowl has been "sliced" open at some point. The registry states a nose replacement, but looking at the inner fender panels and rails, I believe this may be incorrect. Interior and undercarriage are all original and undisturbed, same with the trunk.
Instead of being part of the problem, be part of a successful solution.

George even has a tag on the front that states, "428CJ- 8V Service Block", Lol

What a cool original Shelby!!
