I have my Shelby at Orlando Mustang for a complete restoration and we are getting to the final details. A question came up on the correct style shocks and I have some originals but they are tired. Orlando Mustang has a set of front and rear shock made by a Company in the 90"s called Blackjack Restorations. They have most of the correct contour to the shock and also has the Autolite stamping and C7ZF part numbers. They look really nice and new in appearance. I'm aware of the C7 part number is to early but the style is very close.
I can restore the originals and install for shows but could these be an option for a Concours Trailered 69 Shelby?

You can put any shocks you like on your car

C7 shocks would not be correct for a 1969 Shelby and (rear) shocks are not easy to swap out.

I dont comment on what organizations like MCA should do, thats their call.

I follow a simple rule, if the part you are using does not look like the original part, expect to take a deduction. Personally, I wouldn't knowingly pay for an incorrect part. There are currently people who make "reproductions" of original 1969 Shelby shocks.

Its all about being historically correct.

Is your car a big or small suspension car?

My car is the big suspension car.

I want to use what is correct and if you have the information on what Company that makes the reproductions that would be great.

Can you share your 1969 VIN? ...there are also differences in big suspension shocks based on transmission.

Thank you.

Here is a guide, if you go the route of reproductions this should help.

There was something about the blackjack shocks that was different but I can't recall what it was because it has been a long time since they were available. I would have to see a picture of them to refresh my memory. The Z7 adjustable shocks were used on small suspension 69 GT350's . The white painted C9ZX-C would be correct for the big suspension 69/70 GT350 as Jeff mentioned.. Dan Patch is the one making the reproduction 69 Shelby shocks. You can find him on ebay. He sells look alike adjustable and a little less priced non adjustable versions that are marked appropriately for concours venues. Dan has a long wait list. I had a friend check on his shocks that he had bought from Dan back in January and I got a message today that they were still another 4 to 6 weeks out from being done.
