Mystery ‘67 Shelby Wheels

I have already posted this question in the SAAC 46 Convention thread, but thought I would also start a separate thread on it that may get more attention...

Who knows more about the beautiful wheels on this GT 500:

They look OUTSTANDING!!! They appear to be aluminum wheels CNC machined to replicate the 1967 Shelby hubcap!

Does someone here know the car - can you point me to the owner - or ask him for more info - like who made them, etc., etc.

Thanks,

My guess is Keith has it right - custom aluminum wheels made to resemble the '67 style hubcaps.

If so, ingenious me thinks.

They do look super choice on that car.

They look like they are a larger diameter than 15", tire sidewalls are not tall ... maybe 17"?

I'll take a set !

as my car was originally a " caps " car I believe

those look so cool

shelbydoug

I still say they're 'caps. Haven't you seen the inserts being used now on steel wheels that make them look like hubcaps?

Honda for one uses them.

Maybe that set was the inspiration for the '68s?

Those are not the same wheels. They are custom made for a customer (Frankenstang49) I believe by EVO D
This car may have had a + sized Mag Star wheel previsously

I agree with Richstang.  I walked up at looked at them because they caught my eye.  They are definitely custom wheels. They appeared to be at least 16 or 17 inch. I almost talked to the driver when I saw the car, but for some reason I did not.  Would have cleared up a lot of speculation.
