Just received a notice that "parts are now available" to perform airbag recall (#16S26) service on our '06 Hertz.  This is actually to replace the existing airbag inflator which could explode during a crash shooting out metal fragments.  I called my Ford dealer and had to put my name on a list so that they can procure the necessary part.  Once in stock, I will get a phone call to schedule an appointment.  The repair should take less than half a day.  At least it appears as if the wheels are finally starting to turn with respect to resolving this recall.

When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love. ~

It's quoted as being less than half a day but mine was done in a couple of hours.

When I traded my GT in last year the dealer tried to tell me they would give me less because it hadn't had the airbag replaced and couldn't sell it until it was. I called BS and they backed off. I hate dealing with stealerships.
