It was the Coupe they crashed in the movie.

Thanks for those photos and explanation of the movie car in the Daytona 24 Hour Race. It make sense to me now.

That Coupe appears to be a replica of the 1965 R model 5R538 in that paint scheme.
I have it noted that it had engine issues in the actual race, nothing about any incident (added drama for the movie).

Wasn't 5R538 the Charlie kemp car ? fastest speed ever for a GT350 184 MPH !

IIRC Michael Riena was car #99 and that was 5R212
Celebrating 46 years of drag racing 6S477 and no end in sight.

5R212 was the Micheal Reina (or Riena?) - Don Kerney driven R model, but it was #90

5R538 was the Roger West - Richard Macon, Treadwell 5R238 R model.
West drove it in '66 (#99) and '67 (#18). It was sold to Charlie Kemp for 1968.
