Nice car but those rims are too small. You need those 21" 'ers.


Incidentally. My first three cars were convertibles. I gave up on them. At best there are three days a year you can drive them here.

It's either too hot or too cold.

The only thing I could figure was that you needed a white top, white interior and a/c to blow on you in the sun with the top down.

I'm still open to a '69 Shelby though. Some things I never learn from!


Oh...and both of my ears are wrecked from driving with the top down. Sometimes I can hear you but sometimes when I can't there is a significant advantage to that?

I have 235 60 15 on my 69 GT 350.  I like the look of the BFG TA's. The only problem I have with them is white letters keep turning brown.

as a teenager I used comet cleanser on them. Then graduated to Wesley's bleach white. Maybe it is time back to comet and see how it does.

Lucas Tire is missing the boat by not doing what Crooker tire has done by making Firestone a radial version of the 500 RWL tire.

I Have used Simple Green and a fine scotch pad on RWL's and white walls with good results.

It sounds like a nice idea and we never know what is in the works.

Goodyear was the one that started all the trouble with the introduction of the RWL tires.

I have a suspicion that there is a specific market research report that indicates the projected market for those tires is too small to justify any of that?

I can't think of anyone actually wanting Firestones. Goodyears are what it looks like most think are right for these cars.

I recently found out Goodyear bought Cooper Tires, which could be a good thing, but usually isn't. They may have bought them to better position themselves going forward with the worldwide rubber shortage. Not only could this sale affect purchasing Cooper brand tires, but also Avon Tires which was owned by Cooper. Time will tell if Goodyear continues these lines of tires.

For cleaning tires, the best product I've found is made by Adam's Polishes and is their Tire and Rubber cleaner. It gently removes the brake dust, previous protectants and the brown colored bloom that forms on tires.

I recently had my BFG Goodrich RWL tires replaced under warranty after having them for a year and nothing would get the letters white.......apparently they had a bad batch of tires..........if you have the same problem contact who you bought them from and make a claim......they should go back to Coker and will get a customer service rep involved. I had bought mine from Summit so maybe they had more pull with Coker

I had TA's on my '69 GT350 (#0184) and had no issues, and the white lettering stood out with the red body paint!

I've run T/As for decades and while they may have changed, to me they are still the best looking tire out there for Classic 60s and 70s cars. The Cooper Cobras look like a cheaper knock off of the classic BF Goodrich, Firestone's or Goodyear's. Everyone has their own opinion and that's mine, it's all personal opinion.

I've owned T/As on more than 30 different muscle cars over the years, and always thought they were pretty good.  Not great, but pretty good.

I used T/A back in the day too - following my editors advice to use the best parts we didn't have to pay for. Once I got my GoodYear connection I never looked back. I've used Goodyears for years but since they went woke I guess it'll probably be Michelins for replacements.

^^^ Brett, remember Gary Bryson, the Goodyear PR rep in the '80s?    He'd give you a set of tires for the project car, plus another set for your own car, a set for your girlfriend's car, and a set to take to the Pomona swap meet. 

After he got fired/quit, BFG stepped up and gave us just about as sweet of a deal.   

The BFG PR rep told me that they wanted to blow Goodyear out of the water in terms of car magazine coverage. BFG opened the doors of their warehouse to editors, and pretty much got on every Hot Rod, Car Craft, PHR, Super Chevy, Street Rodder, etc., project car for years.

My dad's boat trailer ended up with a set of their trailer tires, somehow, too.

Ahhh, the good old days!
