Painting AVON CR6ZZ's

I love the look of the old Goodyear Bluestreak tires and my car raced a lot with them through the 60's and 70's, but I understand the road use of them is less than desirable over the gold standard DOT approved AVON CR6ZZ's. My question is does anyone have pics of AVON's being painted up to look like vintage Goodyears with the blue lines on them? I'm toying with the idea, but not sure how they might might look...Any insight and photos would be much appreciated!

I sounds like you already know this but to make crystal clear the 66 GT350's that came with the Bluestreak street tires from the factory did not have the blue lines around the tire. The vintage race bluestreak tires did have the blue line .

Here are some that we have done, the single on the wheel is a Avon CR6ZZ which we highly recommend and the set and single without the wheel are are Dunlop's that we did for Legendary's Flip Top for the Pebble Beach Tour.

Those are beyond just nice. They are just outrageous (with an accent heavily on the  extreme positive).  8)

The single AVON painted on the rim is exactly like the original Goodyears my car was raced with for 2-3 decades. I want to drive it on the street, yet show it like this as well. PM Sent.

Thank you for the positive responses guys.
We did a set for a 1967 GT350 owner...This shows the progression of the process.....

The tire size is 225 60 15

Thanks, do you know of any clearance issues based on that size, especially the front on a GT350?

shelbydoug

If it matters I've got a 235-60-15 on the front with no issues. Lowered a-arms.

I also have 235/60 15 TA's on front of my 67 GT500..lowered A arms...no issues

I don't believe there were any issues, the GT350 is a two digit 1967.

Hi John
Great work, but at one point I'm struggling.
Do I need to  take off socks and shoes If I would do the same work on my Avons.  ;D

Would it be OK for you to share some details on the steps you did and the sticker sizes you did select? (via PM if you prefer)
-Grinder information
-Cleaning
-Decal size GoodYear
-Decal size ring

I would like to try what you did, hoping to get the same nice result.

MANY THANKS

csheff
