Should the date code on the '67 GT500 carburetors match the build dates on the engine?

I would think yes, they should match as much as the heads, exhaust manifolds, dist, balancer, flywheel (on a manual car) do as they were installed at the engine plant as a unit before shipping on regular production cars. Of course the carbs were built in batches spaced likely further apart than say heads or exhaust manifolds that were used by many more types of cars and models

But I have not done a comparison of collected dates for that confirmation in the past or yet.

I ask because I have yet to see a 67 set for sale. Only 63's. Thanks.

I have seen many 66-67 sets, but they get snapped up instantly by Shelby folks.
Many of the people I have restored carbs for have several sets, hence the apparent shortage.

Well I have a Ford build date of Early June '67. Two components I haven't seen close date wise are a bellhouse and the carbs.

I get it why the bells are a little scarce. I'll bet many got trashed on the first clutch change for a Lakewood and either disposed of or tossed in the back of the garage.

The other is the carbs. I do watch for close dates, stay ready to pounce but can't remember even having seen any '67 dates.

I don't think that suspecting the carbs are built in batches, not necessarily on a weekly basis is a radical thought but putting a '63 dated carb on is counter productive to my intent.

I'd like to put my 3300/3301 combination back on the T/A. If I'm going to be wrong on my '67 GT500, why not be wrong with them as well. They do run really well in either application.

I'd ask you (Drew) to keep me on the list for May '67 652's when you get back from being the submarine commander tour? Is that an attack sub or a missile boat?

March to May on dates IMHO.
