Hi CarolSnake,

Are you saying too late or too early.  Please help me understand.

Thanks

Hey Cory (6S1640)  what exactly is a.....CAROL SNAKE ????... ::)  if that date code is 7M13 ?... too early for a KR

The average number of days for a KR casting date is 45 before the build date of the car.

I am aware of a few dates that are early, but those would not be typical.  KR build dates start in May, with only a handful at the end of April. The factory did not let motors sit for months before installation.

Yes, December 1967 is too early.

Here is some documentation:

There is a vin stamp on the block which he chose to not share.

Which means the block came from a full sized Mercury built in St Louis, not a GT500 KR and probably not even a Cobra Jet.

Not a surprise as it has "regular" 390/428 rods in it too. 75% off would be a fair deal.

With that date code it's far too early for any RPO 428CJ build, KR or not. Obviously the fellow is a dreamer at that price.

I've seen 135 cars with 7 M 6 blocks but this block would probably be too late for one of those. Mid to late January built GT500 would probably work best with this block.

Good call, had not thought of that but at this price it's not likely.

I would say maybe about 1/2 of asking. Good 428 blocks are very pricey themselves these days.

It's just not a CJ. It's a 428. Buyers need to know what they are looking at.

I'd suspect that one needs to be negotiated in person and likely cash talks, nobody walks, but who knows for sure?

It would not be "well bought" as advertised. No.

By the same token anyone can complain about the price in person but there is a line a seller won't go beyond. If they are so easy to find...go find another one cheaper.

Obviously this is just the bitching section here. None of you obviously are buyers.

  Doug ,
There is certainly  "some" education going on in this thread and it is the LACK of education that keeps it going. MANY opportunists ( as this one is) go by the incorrect assumption ( perpetuated on the internet) that EVERY "C scratch" block is a CJ. This thread shows our lesser informed friends WHY it isn't by noting the VIN ( amazingly not disclosed in the ad) and the 3/8ths bolt rods , besides the obvious date issue. This prevents a person from getting ripped off. For the seller's price one could possibly buy TWO aftermarket ALUMINUM FE blocks.
When things aren't right we all tend to dog pile on them.
