If a GT350 with 4 speed and air was ordered with a HD battery would that be the group 27? Non air GT350s got the group 22 then the HD would be the 24. Was the 24 standard with the air cars and HD bring you up to a 27? Thanks.

Trust me they did. Boss 302s and GT350 no air cars got them. I actually have bought a group 22 battery tray for my Shelby off of Ed Meyer and have conversed with a few judges as to whether a group 22 battery will ever be made. The code on my build sheet is for a group 22 also . Gary

My '70 GT350 (have only owned for a few years) came with a group 24 battery (AC Delco brand if you can believe that) mounted in a group 27 size tray. I replaced it with a group 27 battery based on that and the fact that the car was ordered with the heavy duty battery option. The car is an original 4 speed with air conditioning. My build sheet battery code reads A D. Interested in any other comments/observations on this. Thanks.

Ed once told me the codes. My build sheet is terrible in a few areas and I can only see the "A" on mine in the "40" box. I use light and magnifiers just to see that. I cannot see if there is a code in the "code" in the "41" box. I know my car only had the standard 22 battery. HD for my car would be the 24. Air cars got the 24 standard so assume the 27 is the HD for that. see my build sheet and you can understand why. Gary

Thanks. That is the chart I was looking for. I'm sure Ed gave it to me at one time. Gary

under an optimal lighted magnifier  used about 25 years ago I think my second box was an A to go with the first box being an A. That was at a facility I worked at at the time. Don't have one now so it is really hard to make out an A in my second box. My mind sees it only after I convinced myself it is an A.  ;D

But not coded out Ed. offers 55 and 70 amp. Circle one. Since mine is blank it would be the group 22.

Wooahbundy gave me his findings. So can we get some more clarification here? I would appreciate it. Here is a car. GT350 air 4 speed 70 amp battery. So this would be a group 27 or group 24? We all know the 500 carries only a group 27 and a standard GT350 a group 22 so on the order form you can pic a 55 amp(group 24?) or a group 70 amp(group 27?) for the GT350 only as optional. Thanks for the help

AC equipped cars should have the larger charging system as a mandatory option, thus the larger battery.
What does your build sheet say?

Don't have one on the car order from in my last post(my 4 speed non air car I think it is a AA but hard to read). Checking for a friend with an air 4 speed. Order form says 70 amp battery as the pic above says. Another poster said his build sheet said "AD" on his 4 speed air GT350(group 27). So my take on the order form would me all non air GT350s got a group 22. Air cars got the group 24. Optional on a 4 speed could be a group 24 and optional on an air 4 speed a group 27. Order form is weird on how it is worded also. Check it out. It is why I'm asking for clarification. To be clear my car should have came with a group 22(non air 4 speed car) as standard equipment.

i believe some confusion here....you can get the group 24 or 27 battery(order form battery option 1 or 2) on a gt350 with or without air conditioning.....i have a 1970 gt350 convertible 4spd with ac and a group 27 battery, with battery option 2 marked on my order sheet....just depends on what battery option the car was ordered with...thx keith
