I'm specifically looking for the paint markings common to 67 GT500 manual transmission cars but also common ones from different years.

If you could, posting them here would be helpful.

How similar are the '67 GT500markings to the '68s?

Do you happen to have the serial/id number from your transmissions tag? Might have something from the same period to compare to.

Over all IME some will be the same but a number are, can or may be (depending on which markings specifically) different. So markings differ just because it appears practices changed over time and as mentioned sometimes the car assembly plant added different markings as mentioned in the article


Would expect that the assemblers number would be in the same place and the same font and color. Most often it seems to be a two digit number
Transmission identifier stamp (GS) to be the same in approx location, font and color.
Looks like the front bearing retainers share the same marking.
For others (other than the somewhat random colored handwritten marks applied to the bottom and passenger side) there may be more or less variation. Would need to know more of the above information to comment

  Jeff's information IMHO is as good as it gets. The rubber stamp is usually the last one or two letters of the RUG ( or HEH) suffix. Keep in mind that these were inspection stamps and marks , NOT done by "artists". They varied in "quality" and legibility.
