3-71 is the manufacturers date code for the wire so you can assume the pump was built after that date.

There should be a two digit manufacturing date code stamped on the main body.  This new old stock one is stamped D6. Based on what I found listed on the Internet:
D = 1960
6 = June



The wire connected to the switch is marked as being PACKARD brand dated 2-60 which I take to mean the wire was made in bulk from in February 1960.


If the main body was purchased as a repair part for an existing pump I would not expect an assembly date on it.

What is stamped on the main body of the pump you have for sale?
