It's C3AE, but kinda does look like an "8".

Glad you got it! They are not terribly fast because the car is so heavy. But great drivers, tons of torque, lots of fun.

Thanks. Yeah, I have a 65 Mercury Park Lane with a 428, so it should be similar but faster. I prefer stick, too.

Anybody know a good car shipper near Indianapolis?

Really nice sled.  Great year.   Bet it'll run high 14s with 4.11s.

I'd have fun driving it, that's for sure.

The one I used to work on and drive a lot was more like high 14's / low 15's. It was heavy. The tires were tall skinny 15's so the 4.11's are not like in a Mustang with 14 inch F series tires.

Royce: I was pretty close, wasn't I?  High 14s.  ;D.

Funny how we think of those cars as so heavy.   Yes, they were heavy compared to a '65 Mustang, but are relatively lightweight compared to today's porkers.

I have owned many 1960s Cadillacs, and I'd often get the question "How much does that thing weigh?"  One guy with a new BMW M7 SUV (or whatever it's called) bet that my 1967 Fleetwood weighed twice what his car does. He didn't believe me when I told him his probably weighs 300-400 pounds more.  The Caddy is about 4900 pounds.  The Bimmer is about 5300.

Congrats on the purchase.  It's a great looking car, and while I love Shelbys, it's exciting to see something different but very cool on these pages that I frequent.  Share some pictures of the delivery and your adventures with it too!

Congratulations! Hopefully, many enjoyable driving days ahead.

Congrats on the purchase, exciting.

If you need a shipper, I've used a broker many times.  He is a Mustang guy and I actually sold him a Fastback a few years back.
Contact Chris if you need a quote or help with the move.

As my name suggests I've been into Ford's a long time. My first car was a 69 Mustang and I paid $500 for it in 1985. I also had an 82 Mustang Ghia 4 banger, a 66 Galaxie 500 convertible, a couple mid 60's full sized Mercs and I currently have a F150 7700. I LOVE Shelbys and have always wanted one, but back in the day, these cars were pretty legendary too, and to a Ford purist, beyond the big Boss Mustangs the real grails are Thunderbolts and factory lightweights. I can't afford a Boss 429, I can't afford a real Shelby Cobra, I can't even afford a Shelby Mustang in the years that I like in decent shape, but I can afford this. Top 5 dream car for me for a long time.

Car currently has tires so wide in the back that the rear wheels are "difficult to remove". I'm going to be putting the original wheels back on it and will also be putting tires wider than what would have come on the car from the factory. Not sure that it would make that much of a difference in the 1/4 but those skinny tires just don't look right.
